Gurudongmar Lake situates at a tallness of around 17,000 ft among the central 15 unique lakes on the earth and is the second unique lake in Sikkim and also in India. Guru Padmasambhava (also called Guru Dongmar), touched and blessed the lake, and in this manner, even in winter, a bit of the lake does not solidify. The lake is also one of the wellsprings of River Teesta, which moves through Sikkim, West Bengal, and Bangladesh to converge with the Bay of Bengal.

The water of Gurudongmar Lake is said to have medicinal properties and many tourists carry the water with them on their way back. Near the lake, there is a ‘Sarva Dharma Sthal’, and as the name recommends, it’s a position of love for all religions.

How to Reach Gurudongmar Lake

By Air: The closest air terminal is Bagdogra near Siliguri, which is at a separation of 124 km from Gangtok. This air terminal associates with Delhi, Kolkata & Guwahati. Worldwide travelers can get corresponding flights from Kolkata or Delhi. Both all around associates with various urban areas in India & abroad. Helicopter administrations are available from Bagdogra to Gangtok, just once between the day.

By Train: The closest railway station is New Jalpaiguri which all around associates with the major urban communities in India.

By Road: The Journey to Gurudongmar starts with a 4-5 hour drive through snow-covered mountains from Gangtok till one achieves Lachen, a residential area in North Sikkim situates at a height of about 10,000 ft. Along these lines, it is a 7-8 hour travel from Gangtok through excessive greenery and waterfalls as one reaches the Lachen town. However, transports here are available every now and again, and one can even get a taxi or jeep from morning to night.
