The Namgyal Institute of Tibetology 

Since its foundation in 1958, the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology has support & increase exploration on the religion, language, history, workmanship and society of the general population of the Tibetan social range which includes Sikkim. Therefore, The NIT library holds one of the biggest collections of Tibetan works on the planet outside Tibet & a historical center of Tibetan iconography & religious workmanship. It distributes the Bulletin of Tibetology since 1964 and various books throughout the years.

The site on which the organization was built up was given by the late Chogyal (Lord) of Sikkim Sir Tashi Namgyal. The Fourteenth Dalai Lama laid the establishment stone of the Institute on 10th February 1957. The foundation declares open by the late Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 1st October 1958. The organization’s building is a forcing landmark & a remarkable case of Sikkimese architecture.

Visit Timing of The Tibenamgyal Institute of Tibetology

The gallery & the library interest out in the open between 10 am to 4 pm from Monday to Saturday. It closes on Sundays, public occasions and second Saturdays of consistently. The entry fee is Rs. 10/- per individual. You have to take your shoes off before entering the historical center. Photography does not allow inside, but rather you can take a photo through the open entryway.
